Day 58

“How great the wisdom and the love
That filled the courts on high
And sent the Savior from above
To suffer, bleed and die!”
~ Hymn 195

How does understanding the Fall help you more fully love Jesus
and appreciate what He did for us?

  1. I truly "stand all amazed and that love Jesus offers me" I love this hymn and this chapter (ALMA 42) I am in awe of how each part (Fall, Atonement, Resurrection) plays into the greater plan. As I study, ponder and learn further how Mercy, Justice and Grace play in the plan of Salvation my testimony is strengthened and I am able to stand taller, since my foundation has improved. In addition to strength I also gain a better ability to see things as they truly are and I am able to see who I really am and my own purpose here on this earth.

I find that everyone in the world has a great desire to find this joy that the atonement brings. We seek to find mercy where ever we can to gain peace in the chaos that we live. However, the difference that is found between the secular world and the LDS world is that world tends think “Grace” is what Mercy is and how it is described in chapter 42. However, the misunderstanding comes when the world skips over the most important part of the Mercy because they don’t understand how the atonement works and don’t fully understand that relief that Jesus gives is because He is the ONLY one who can stand as the mediator, the One who accepts all punishment/payments/debts so that we can experience the “fullness of joy” that whole atonement brings which satisfies both justice and mercy. The world makes it seem that the willingness to accept Jesus into your life is enough to experience the full love that is given in Mercy. However this is just the first step … there are more steps that are required to move forward and to be able to receive the gift that the atonement can bring and entitled to each of us. See the Fourth Article of Faith: We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The question is “Am I willing to change and do what the Lord requires of me?” It is so important for each one of us that has a testimony of the Atonement to walk the walk and talk the talk. The world is searching and need us to show the love that the Lord has for each one of us.
