friends. The more obedient you are…the more the Lord can help you
overcome temptation. You can also help others because they will feel
your strength. Let them know about your standards by consistently
living them…No one intends to make serious mistakes. They come
when you compromise your standards to be more accepted by others.
You be the strong one. You be the leader. Choose good friends and
resist peer pressure together.”
~ Elder Richard G. Scott
Why did King Noah not resist the pressure from the evil priests?
This particular reading about King Noah makes me believe stronger how important it is to know "WHO WE ARE". It is so easy to bow out of lifes choices by following the flow of things. I remember the pressures felt as a teen ager and thinking I can't wait till I am older so I don't have to go through this, but opposition and choices are one of lifes test to really show where our true stance is. Are we going to let others dictate how we live and just sit idlly. This kind of action (by not acting) weakens ourselves and we will not be able to discern between right and wrong when more difficult choice come. I have seen this in my life and I know that knowing my divine right of a daughter of a Heavenly Father gives me the strength and courage to stand against the flow of society and make right choices.
