“The right question to ask is not why good people have trials, but
how shall good people respond when they are tried?”
~ Elder Marion D. Hanks
“Suffering can make saints of people as they learn patience, long
suffering and self-mastery. The sufferings of our Savior were
part of his education.”
~ President Spencer W. Kimball
How do you respond to adversity?
I love these quotes... Unfortunately I have not appreciated these truths when trials have been before me, but lately I have gained such an appreciation for the fact of self-mastery and what it really means to be patient.
ReplyDeleteI think that because we live in a society where one can almost get anything "instantly". For example, the internet, one can have an instant connection to people around the world via email, Facebook and so forth. Literally, information is at our finger tips. We have self-check outs, drive-thrus, home delivery; Cell phones and so forth. You name it - we have it. We are upset when we have to wait in lines, or be on holding…etc. Patience is something the world is trying to get rid of. This is why it is so important to learn about and work to master the principle of patience - especially since we are living in the modern world.
Lately, I have been so grateful about learning patience’s and finding much fulfillment in combining my mind, spirit and physical being through self-mastery. What a fantastic journey to be able to experience this. I would have never guessed that I would have found so much joy and fulfillment as I am learning about this virtue.
