Day 28

“Our focus should be on righteousness, not recognition; on
service, not status. The faithful visiting teacher, who quietly
goes about her work month after month, is just as important to
the work of the Lord as those who occupy what some see as
more prominent positions in the Church. Visibility does not
equate to value…When we understand why we serve we will not
worry about where we serve.”
~ President Howard W. Hunter

How often do you serve?

  1. Great quote!
The natural man in us sure fights for attention in this battle...
For me the question is: how often do I serve with pure motives?
    Good thoughts Elin!

  2. I agree... Personally I struggle with wanting to serve but then feeling either resentful or frustrated that I have been taken for advantage of. I know that is not a Christ-like attitude and that adds to my frustration because I then take those feelings that I have felt about the situation and turn it on myself for not feeling a Christ like love and having true compassion.

However, in spite of my own inner weakness and my need to continue to stretching and learn - I gain strength that even though I am weak and my efforts might not be perfect. I know that through the Savior they become perfect and one day I will come to a full understanding of how to be able to combine the heart, mind and action to be a complete whole and serve as the Savior does.

  3. Amen - I like how you said that last part - combining the heart, mind and action... very good. That is a good place to focus on.
