Day 90 - ONLY 10 more Days!

“The tragedy of the Book of Mormon is not what became of the
Nephites but what the Nephites became.”
~ Hugh Nibley

What led to the fall of the Nephites?
What things do you do each day to stay strong?

  1. This is such a chilling account. I wonder how our society today compares to what the Nephites eventually became in Mormon's time. They were preoccupied with killing their enemies. It became commonplace to see war and bloodshed, and they appeared to have been pretty hardened to the sight of it. They mourned that they could no longer take pleasure in their hedonistic lifestyle. How do these realities stack up against our modern headlines?

The only things I can, with hope, hold onto are the commandments taught to us in the scriptures and the teachings of modern prophets - in this there is safety, in this there is peace. Staying focused on our one true source of power and defense is our only hope when we realize what the prophecies of the last days say will happen. I feel such determination to stay on the side of the Lord, but that means I will truly have to give up every last worldly desire which could undo all my determination otherwise. It's also helpful for me to stay focused on praying for and building a Christlike character - a very proactive effort.

  2. Amen... I find it so hard to get the world out of my life. It is always knocking.

  3. Yes, it is always knocking! I was tellling my kids that we can never be on the wrong side if we are always on the prophet's side. Conference is so important for this reason. Pres. Uchtdorf's talk was very direct about our time now, and ways we can walk away from our covenants because of anger, pride, grudges....That is how our hearts can "fail" us too. I find that my responses to friends and neighbors are not as Christlike and I need to lead people to Christ by what I say and do!
