Day 74

“Afflictions can soften us and sweeten us, and can be a
chastening influence. We often think of chastening as something
being done to punish us… Divine chastening, however, is a
form of learning as it is administered at
the hands of a loving Father.”
~ Elder Neal A. Maxwell

Why do you think it is so much easier to remember the Lord
when we suffer, than when everything is going well? What can
you do to remember the Lord even when times are good?

1 comment:

  1. Really, that is why we have afflictions. When everything is going well, we feel like we've got everything under control (HA!). Then, something major happens, or many small minor things happen, and we remember who is really in control. The biggest factor in my remembering the Lord in the good times is gratitude. I really thank the Lord every day for my blessings. Sam and I are in a good place right now, and we really are very thankful! I have often found that wonderful things coincide with difficult things, and again if I focus on the difficult things, I get bogged down with the blues and become more self-centered. When I remember the wonderful things, I am better about serving others.
