“All beings who have bodies have power over those who have
not. The devil has no power over us only as we permit him. The
moment we revolt at anything which comes from God,
the devil takes power.”
~ Joseph Smith
What things help you most to prevent Satan from having any
power over you?
The gift of agency is so significant in the plan that Heavenly Father has for each of us. Each day we live we have an opportunity to exercise faith that the choices we make are leading us towards Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ - to come, to follow Him and to return to His presence; however, the problem that arises for each of is – “How do we know the difference of submitting to Satan or Christ?”
ReplyDeleteThe difference of submitting to the Satan or the Lord is allowing circumstances to be act upon or to act. Let me explain, to be acted upon it is submitting to the trial reacting to the situation and/or trying to avoid or finding an easier way out and not address the matter vs. looking at the situation and seeing what options will it take to get through the situation at hand. This life is to learn and gain experience and knowledge. I have learned that the results come through working and moving towards a goal. Once we start to think that “I can do it my way” “I will do it myself” and not rely or trust on the Lord we submit to Satin and allow his temptations to take hold on are hearts. Ultimately, it all comes down to the knowledge that it is our choice to choose light or darkness.
Yes, that is true. I want to steer in a different direction. I read an article the other day about a lady suffering from eating disorder issues for many years. She said something that I have been thinking about: Satan is so jealous of our bodies, that he will do anything to entice us to misue our bodies. To undereat, to overeat,to indulge in alcohol/drugs/tobacco, promiscutity, adultery, tatooing. She went so far as to say that he wants us to hate our bodies. I think women are espicially prone to this type temptations of Satan. We will always be more powerful than Satan because we have a tangible body. I love the scriptures that talk about in the afterlife, that those kings of nations, etc. will look on Satan and wonder how we let him have power over us!
